婦人科癌の発がんの検査内容は婦人科で行うことも多く、検査内容は主治医で捉えられるかも不明瞭であり、婦人科受診の指示をしていることに変更した。

タモキシフェンの副作用の１つとして子宮内膜癌のリスクが増加するといわれているが、文献検索上は、タモキシフェン投与女性に対して定期精検などのスクリーニングを実施することの有用性を検討した研究はなく、子宮内膜癌早期発見を目的として定期的に生検などの検査を行う意義は低いと考えられている。しかし、タモキシフェン投与により子宮内膜癌が発生する女性のほとんどに膣出血がみられる。そのような患者には精密検査を行うべきである。最近のASCOガイドラインやNCCNのガイドラインでは、タモキシフェン服用中の患者に対して定期的な婦人科受診が勧められている。
以上により、タモキシフェン服用中に性器出血がみられた場合には、子宮体部の生検あるいは、骨盤内臓器の超音波検査の少なくともいずれかが行われることが推奨される。
